Whilst in the process of moving things over to the split charged battery I could really do with a 8 way fusebox with a common buzbar.  The fuseboxes ive seen only have individual spades on each side which means I have to run about 6-8 wires from the battery terminal :( rather than a big juicy cable to the fusebox for splitting out down the bar.

Ive checked on vwp, but I cant see anything like 8 way with a buzbar.

Incidentally BDB1 looks cool but too big, I dont have the room to accomodate it.

Any ideas anyone ?

i got a durite 8 blade fuse holdeer with rear entry from the local trade supplier for £4 & all i did was start at one end & make up jumpers all the way along to give power to all the fuses

I used a "538" when I did a fusebox and like you said run seperate cables to each fuseway.

I thought about that, but I want to run 1x 30amp fuse, 5x 15amps, 3amp and a 1amp

So thats going to have to be some heavy cable to make the jumpers otherwise you'll have melted mess underneath.

In terms of whats going to be in use at the same time, the 30 is probably, its for a accessory socket i.e. coolbox, 3x 15's are for spotlights, 3amp is for cb, 1amp for power for the relays, 15amp is for audio/dvd/etc

I suppose I could solder a bar onto the spades, but its not a very neat solution :/

i used a fairly heavy cable for all the jumpers & currently have
10 amp for making the relays & swithes live
30 amp for driving lights 2x100w
30 amp for fogs 2x55w
25 amp for reverse lights 2x 55w
15 amp for map light

I'd be inclined to solder a bit of copper bar on with a bolt at one end for bolting the feed cable on - you can tidy it up with a bit of paint then -

I ripped one out of the boot of a Rover 800 in a scrapyard, it had two 30A feeds so wasn't too bad to rig up to the main battery feed. I've got 5A for in-car computer, 10A for accessory feeds 30A for spots, 5A for CB etc etc

There's a really nice modular fuse/relay box in VXP's catalogue, pg 19 - but by the time you've bought the base, the cover, the modular inserts etc, it all adds up to a fair few beer tokens.

I'm going down the 'remove one from a breaker' route for the extra wiring in the 110 - if I'm lucky it won't cost a bean !

I used the modular fuse and relay boxes from VWP for my wiring. I found that the individual spades (they're not spades really, more like flat sockets) for the fuses come supplied on a metal strip, from which they can be snapped off. However, the spacing along the strip is exactly the same as the spacing in the holder so I left them attached and soldered a big wire to the strip to take a feed from the battery. It's worked perfectly like that for nearly four years.

Can't tell you the part numbers but I've used the 7-way minature relay box and matching 16-way fuse box from VWP and fitted them inside a waterproof enclosure from |Maplins, then velcoed them to my batteries.  I now have waterproof electrics and I use the thinwall wire so that a 33amp wire is still quite thin (if very stiff) so I run several of these to a battery cable terminal on the inner wing, also from VWP, that is in line with my battery cables.

One thing though, I dropped soem fuse relays in a waterproof box and found that although tye no longer correded they did melt, it appears they need to have air circulating to keep them cool even though I use 30A relays for every thing and they were running 20A fans.
