The only thing about this is the fact that the support that is raised this time of year is needed really all year round, its the only one I support on a regular basis with donations

I must admit with being ex forces, with another 2 generations behind and probably one in front to go. I find myself thinking about it and my father does, even now (at 85). Not just for 2 mins

Driving round in the old lightweight also does it too, the sound the smell even now is the way I remember it 25 years ago

Do you have any idea if the support raised now is enough?

<thinks> that is probably a stupid question - when does any charity get 'enough'

Not really, have a look at what its used for, the one of the most visible ones is the Chelsea Pesioners.
Thats only the tip of the ice-berg

But unlike the Americans our government dont support their ex forces

I dont really bother with the British Legion, never really bothered, but do like to contribute to what they stand for and do

There are loads of charities for the Armed Forces, the main one for RAF is RAFA. This is mainly funded by serving airmen/women donating money from their pay to help run social clubs, rest hotels for ex or seving members that want some where to meet or just to get away for a break. The Army and Navy also run similar schemes. But money is still required from the public, as the goverment desimates the Armed Forces, the money raised from them also drops.
Theses charities are for for all war veterans and their families, not just the Great War and World War 2, but also as recent as the last Gulf war.

I would like to thank everyone who has shown support by wearing poppies and donating money. It is good to know people still care.
