Was out on friday night and about 50-60 miles from home when the rear prop decided it had just had enougth and broke
Fortunatly I was only doing about 15 miles an hour as had just puled onto a roundabout and wasnt on the A1 as I had been 2 minutes earlier
Now the real shame of it.
Had my 90 towed by a disco
into scotch corner services where looked to see if could sort problem with kit I had to hand.
Between me disco geordie and another DOC member managed to get all but 2 nuts off the prop to take it off so could get home on 2 wheels
So called the AA who where less than helpfull as always
"Oh we cant come out to you as its to danerous to work under the vechicle" I explained that was in a services carpark (this was about 130am so it was totaly dead)Pointed this out to the "nice" lady on the phone who still said that its a no we wont come out so she mentioned recovery.Asked me where I would need to get to so said home address.
"oh sorry cant recover you as you dont have that on your membership"
SWINE. build up my hopes then dash them to pieces.
told them I'll leave it for now so decided we would have another go under neath with the spanners.
still no luck called the AA again after about 45 minutes trying in the wet to get the nuts undone explained that all I need is a 14mm spanner and some light to see what I'm doing and can be off again.
"oh well errr ummmm well errr we'll see if we can send someone out what sort of spanner was that 14 inch?" oh thanks like your doing me a MASSIVE favour now and thats 14mm love.
45 minutes later and an AA recovery flatbed pulls in drives straight past me and parks up and just sits there.
About to walk over when another AA flatbed comes in with a car they start swapping the car over and then a local garage recovery truck pulls up and out gets the guy.
Turns out the AA have called them out (they are an AA approved recovery firm) to get me going again.
Guys straight underneith and with in ten minutes I'm back on the road
His parting words " I wouldnt join the AA bunch of ******** money hungry cowboys Your better to fix it yourself"
I tend to agree now
