OH NO ITS CHRISTMAS TIME
« on: November 15, 2005, 08:40:20 »
i came home from work last night, about 7:15 and a bloke has put up his christmas lights and tree (putting them up and taking them down are the only 2 days work he does in a year)
his next door neighour had put theirs up as well has the world gone mad  :?:
then i realised that he was late this year, he usually puts them up the day after bonfire night
i can imagine the conversation when he catches me at the weekend:
(big smile) have you seen my christmas lights
yeh, i'm waiting till christmas to put mine up
2 min pause (while he thinks) smiles and walks away
Never underestimate the power of a sick mind !!!!
What would scooby doo!!!!
remember if you camp next to the toilets you get to meet everybody at least once over the weekend

Christmas does have its benefits:

Everybody (or nearly everbody   ) is in a good mood
Dark cold evenings lead to better TV
Bank Holidays!

OK, I'm struggling now!

Every evening in December brings drunken revellers from office parties/works do's, as there's usually someone who never has more than a half-pint who's 'off their head'

Then around the dreaded date itself, we get food-poisonings, battery ingestions, cuts from carving knives, brittle plastic toys cutting again, etc........

Spring brings all the gardeners; chest-pains, spade/fork in the foot, lawn-mowered toes, pruned fingers, smoke-inhalation from garden bonfires.

Etc, etc, etc......................

Yep, see a few of those; be they suicides, injuries due to fights, drink-driving, etc...

Not forgetting that the 'half-pinter' who's 'off their head' is either throwing up everywhere, deeply unconcious, weeping uncontrollably, or wanting to fight with everybody

I remember one of these coming 2(?)years ago with 2 Ambulance crews in one van to control him (2 in the back & 1 driving each van)
It's annoying & takes up time that the staff could be spentding with properly poorly patients

I'm being forced to put ours up this weekend.

Due to work etc. in the up-and-coming weekends, SWMBO wants them up now, because if she waits for me to break up from work, they'll be going up on Christmas Eve.

They're not being lit until December 1st though.

Christmas = crowds, expense, and some old guy with a bulging sack emptying his load down your chimney.

Well i cannot wait till christmas,

I do think the shops start too early, but we are the ones who buy it from them early.

What would you do if you ran the stores.

another few weeks to go then i can get some time off, put the feet up, watch E.T. Wizard of Oz, etc.
Eat Cold turkey for weeks

If it's really that much of a problem try here http://www.watchtower.org/
My Mother did and it worked for her.

I agree that some people and the shops start it all too soon - but isn't it just encouraging it to start the discussion here? I thought children read this forum, Ok I'm not naive enough to be a 'true believer' anymore but some of the topics of discussion here are a bit sick considering the topic is something to do with Christmas, and it's not as if we're not having the same discussion as last year
