SWMBO's gone away with the girls for a few days - and 'borrowed' the Disco, which means I'm using the 110 for work.

The temp gauge has never made it to the half way mark, but I assumed that where it sits (about a third across) is normal for this truck.

Anyhow - the heater's cr4p, on a long run round the top half of the M25, I had to have the blower on full, the heat setting on max - and still had two fleece tops on.........is this normal (the lack of heat, not the 2 fleeces !)

Another question - the lever for directing where the heat goes, moves up and down, but you don't get any warm/hot air from the footwell vents. What might have seized/broken/needs adjusting ?

My heater is slow to warm but very hot when its up and running.  It throws the hose to the top vent all the time though.

It blows quite a bit of warmish air onto the screen - but no matter where the 'direction' lever is pointing, I can't get any air (warm or cold) out of the footwell vents:

1 - Does it have footwell vents ?
2 - Where are the mixer flaps (think thats what they're called)

I assume that the direction lever connects to something by a cable - anyone know where the other end of this cable is ?

Two cables operate the flaps on the heater matrix. One is for temperature, I think the other is for direction. Make sure the cables are adjusted correctly at the matrix end and moving the flaps to their full extent before looking at anything else.

try lving up here in the frozen north. standard atire in my defender is thermal underwear and one of those big fur russian hats (I kid you not)
had our first couple of hard frosts this weeks.
all I'll say is
BBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

(just in case any one asks no animals where harmed in the making of my hat - its not real fur)

Take the floor pan up and get the heat off the exhaust :lol:

Some of the older series are so draughty by the time the wind blows through the gaps its been warmed by the engine, just the smells make it interesting

everyone i know who has one of these says theyre pretty rubbish because theyre low power...

i'm planning to get a 230v mains heater, leave it in the LR overnight on an extension lead from the house on a timer so it comes on about 30 mins before i go out....

One 'toy' that the previous owner left behind in the 110 is an Eberspacher cabin heater (although it's in the back n/s corner), I tried it last night and within 10 mins the chill had disappeared from the whole truck, and after another 10 mins it was toasty warm throughout  :D . the only downside is that the system only has a on/off and speed controller - looking at the website you can get a 7-day programmable timer......

Guess who I've just emailed  8)

Once I get me a timer, I'll programme it to fire up the heater early in the morning, the truck will then be warm and defrosted by the time I crawl out of my pit !

Otherwise you need to check out auto electrical places (not Halfrauds !), Marine specialists also stock them as they're used on boats/narrow boats etc.
