I would like more heavier duty recovery eyes at the front of my Disco 300 Tdi than the original ones. Does anybody know if it's possible to fit jate rings or a steering guard with towing eyes and still keep the plastic spoiler below the bumper.
Any ideas or does this plastic spoiler have to be removed.

You can fit jate rings but depending on the direction of the recovery they will snag the front valance.
If your stuck back end in a hole they will be fine.
if the front is dug in then the rope will pull upwards.
Could you not remove the lower valance?
Its easyly done.

Yep, ditto. I got the guard from Paddocks, for 75 quid (plus the dreaded) it's a real solid piece of kit. Didn't take long to fit, and I just ripped the valance off and cut the end-caps down with a jigsaw :) It's done some fairly hard work since then and still looks good as new. Highly recommended.
Cheers

I had a Scorpion one on my 200tdi. Just had to cut two slots in the valance for the jacking points to protrude. Worked a treat.
On the TD5 I have a Discoparts guard, with two slots in the valance for the towing eyes... It actually protects the valance, I'd certainly have ripped it off by now if it weren't for the steering guard keeping it protected and rigid.

Thanks for the reply's.
Will probably purchase a guard with eye's and when fitting it i will make a decison as to whether i modify the valance or remove it completely.
I have previously had the bumper and valance off the car and then seperated them to re-spray the bumper, so the valance should part from the bumper fairly easily.
