The question is: should this story be in ‘THE BAR’ or ‘JOKES AND FUNNIES’
As it sounds like a joke to me.
Sadly this is a true story and is still ongoing
Don’t want to say how many Discovery’s I’ve looked at, and how many good’uns I’ve missed

I joined this forum with the intent of buying a Discovery. That was the end of May.
I started looking for my dream car in June, there's no rush I’m happy to look around.
End of July I applied for a top up to my mortgage, not a great deal of money, but I have a good idea of what I want. Within a week the papers were back for me to sign not so fantastic was the other letter explaining that I had a caution attached to the property.

After a quick search on the land registry web site, there seems to be a caution on the property from my divorce in 1993, YES 1993.

(first mistake thinking there’s no problem) the divorce was finalised 1993 , she’s had here pay off .

(second mistake thinking there’s no problem) the building society sent here forms to lift the caution, in the first week of August. She couldn’t fill in these forms as she didn’t know what she was filling in!!!!!, and as they were only a temporally lift (until it could be sorted permanently) she felt it would be better not to fill in the forms.

(third mistake, this took up August) well she would fill in the forms to permanently remove the caution.

NO; downloaded the correct forms passed them to her, she needed advice before she could fill the forms in (STILL WAITING)

(Fourth mistake, this took up September) well I got the forms issued by a solicitor for her to sign, OOPS there in the wrong name, get the forms re-issued from the solicitor, still cant sign them as she doesn’t know what she’s signing.

(Fifth mistake, this took part of October) back to the solicitors with proof that she has had a final settlement from the divorce, they can ask her solicitor to fill in the forms and remove the caution HURRAY!!!!! (you can bet I spoke to soon).

(sixth mistake, rest of October) passing forms between solicitors and sending them to the Land Registry Office.

(seventh mistake) after a couple of weeks waiting, I contacted the LRO direct, it seems the wrong forms have been filled in AAAAAAAARGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

(Eighth mistake) the LRO (good guys in this sorry tail) contacted the solicitor direct explained the problem and asked them to send the correct forms (a WCT form)

(Nineth mistake) phoned the LRO today, they have the forms back, shame it’s the wrong form again, the first form was received by the LRO on the 3rd of November and there is a time limit on the length of time a case can remain open.

After advice the LRO are now contacting the x wife to find out whether she objects to the caution being removed (tenth mistake) if she has no objection or she fails to reply the caution will be removed

well here is an update
came home from work last night and there is a letter from the Land Registry Office, marked private, with xwifes name on it
the question is doi:
put it back in the post return to LRO
forward it to x
ignore it for 15 days (very tempting as its the time she has to object)
advice please, remember there is a land rover and my sanity at stake

DO NOT OPEN IT, its not yours and I think theres a law on opening someone elses mail. Just leave it on the side and put it back in the post in 14 days time.

Agreed!

If the LRO don't hear anything, will they assume she agrees?
If so leave it on the side for 14 months

be careful - at the moment it seems you have the moral high ground - in the event of a dispute later on the LRO will be able to track to where they sent the letter to - I've never been involved in anything remotely like this - but maybe you should send it on
