my experience with truetrac and detroit lockers
« on: November 27, 2005, 21:48:42 »
after a few weeks of running with these mods i feel confident enough to give some feedback.

i have a detroit locker in the rear and a truetrac limited slip diff in the frint.

of road i have found that both modified diffs have made an incredible difference.

i have been in various off road situations with simex and kuhmo mud terrains.

traction has increased considerably with the lockers better with the simex.

definatly worth the plunge,,but what about on the road?

i have not as yet experienced the rear diff locking on a roundabout in the wet or in slippery conditions(i do run 12.5 width tyres)

i have heard a few clunks and bangs from the rear diff as it unlocks.

sometimes this sounds like its coming from the front diff(tim after diffs off and application of blue and testing pinion wear it turned out to be my sense of hearing)

as to the front lsd

brilliant piece of kit, under acceleration it is allways trying to self centre(until the pause in which it takes you to change gear)

i actually wish i had installed the front lsd befor i changed the radius arms.

so i can reccomend thus far these lockers

when your driving the steering is always trying to self centre.it may have helped to overcome the wandering from the lift.

and may have saved the cost of castor corrected radius arms and a cardon prop.

if not given more time to save for the outlay

Mike,

Had mine fitted long time before castor correction arms. They don;t make any differece to the stability :-)
