Immobliser question
« on: December 04, 2005, 17:43:31 »
Just recently when going to start SWMBO,s 300tdi you turn the key and get nowt, but there is a light appeared on the dash of a car with a key in it.
Looking in the book this is the engine immobiliser which comes on when you leave the car unlocked for a time and as i understand it when you next put the key in and go to start it should recognise the fob and switch off the immobiliser and allow starting.
Any ideas as to why this has just started to do this? is it an indicator of the fob on its way out or battery needing replacement?

My guess without knowing details of your model or spec is that the "fob's" battery is weak.

Could be the fob.
They are a bit rubbish.
I got a new one from Billing.
