And HH is only the fifth biggest oil terminal in the UK. Hate to think what would happen if Kingbury or Ellesmere went up.

Wished it hadn't happened at all and hope this isn't the terrorists next move as one of the suspicions is    :(  :(

It's the panic buying of fuel that's going to affect us up here.

Just been watching Sky & News 24, glad to see no one has died in this, and it seems to have been an accident rather than terrorist attack or plane crash.

News 24 have just shown aerial footage of the site and it looks a real mess, some of the tanks that aren't on fire have been distorted by the blast and the buildings within the site look like a scene from a WWII film.

You can now see the smoke cloud on the Met Office satellite image!  :?

I'd be more worried about the shortage of wines and sprites, as the Waverely Wines depot next door looks wrecked.

My SWMBO is SUPPOSED to be getting her brand new Suzuki Jimny delivered to the N-East where we live on Tues/Wed this week.  Can anyone tell me if her garage is anyway near the fire?.  It's ANTHONY BETTS, London Rd. Hemmel Hemstead.  I know what oil fumes can do to paintwork.--Cheers--Cogs

we're miles from HEMEL but BP have decided to put their price per litre up by 3pence,this is probably due to their christmas spirit and not their greedy nature by profiting on disaster and clawing what they can from the motorists.
the question that anyone should ask themselves is....

will they put the price down again when the fire is out :?:

Said on the news was only petrol and aviation fuel, but I bet diesel will go up more than these if they do raise the prices

I've conducted some experiments this evening. I tried dropping maches into the wifes car petrol tank. It didn't ignite. Then I tried a blow torch across the petrol filler pipe. It ignited but was easy to extinguish with a damp tea towel.

Then I tried a bit of C4 under the tank. That did the trick. The explosion was heard three streets away by a dutchman.

Conclusion .... it must have been done on purpose, and I've got some explaining to do on the insurance claim form.

I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.
