Chassis repair sections
« on: December 12, 2005, 13:12:25 »
Oh dear!

Is it possible to get Discovery 1 chassis repair sections like you can with Series vehicles?

The man who is swapping my gearbox has just called.  He's taken the cross member off and found a hole he can get his fist in.  Reckons it'll cost £150 quid because once plated, he'll need to re drill all the mounting holes.

As you can imagine, the missus (and me) is seriously miffed.  Stig is proving to be a knackered money pit.

im not sure if you can get a replacement part for that section i would think quite a few disco's have got corrosion there coz when i took my cross member off to change my gearbox it was quite corroded but luckily no holes so i cleaned it up and put loads of waxoil/underseal there before putting it back together i dont think £150 is to bad a price for having it plated up.  joe

The gearbox crossmember is a hell of a tight fit on a 200tdi so it's be a heck of a headache to plate it and redrill unless it was cut out.
