A question of morals

Needless to say, I'm in no rush to move back down south.

Oh, so I classed as a southerner now are I??

Having looked at the entries here, I have to say that on the odd couple of occassions I've been handed too much money, it's alway been handed straight back.
We do, at the Hospital, get the odd old dear who comes in with £3,000 in her purse    (pensions are higher than they admit to then    )
So when money/valubles are taken for safe keeping (Nurses party fund - only joking) it is always checked, listed & countersigned by at least 2 Nurses before sealing & going into the departmental safe until it can be handed over to the Bursar in the General Office or the patient is discharged.

We do the get odd patient who slides a five into your hand says; "Have a drink/box of chocolates on me"
This is strictly taboo, we can accept chocolates/flowers/boxes of biscuits, etc..., but not money.
It is always handed back with a thankyou, but also an explaination.
If they want to donate to someone, I always suggest either the Lifeboats, or the National Canine Defence League

A question of morals

I'm old school and giving it back, even if the guy is the most obnoxious person going, the feeling is worth a lot more than cash.

We were walking around a market in Bathgate (Scotland) and a guy in front of us dropped a hell of a wedge. My lad, about 10 at the time spotted it and picked it up and asked what to do. I said to give it to the guy.

He gave it to him and he riped £50 out of the wedge and gave to him.

Now man may just say Thanks or grunt but at least you get to know that you did the right thing.

I've lost my wallet before now with all my wages in it. In the days when you got cash in a paypacket. It gutted me for weeks and it was near Christmas.

That's what I'd do but then that's me.

Like others. I treat others as I would like to be treated.
Incidently Tim Muddy can vouch for this. I bought a load of stuff from him at Tixover and when I got back to the car I worked out that he'd undercharged me and lost out quite badly.
I hardly knew him yet still went back and told him.

He said thanks and said no problem. I went away happy that I'd done what I thought was right.
