EARLY WARNING OF SEVERE WEATHER
EARLY WARNING of Heavy Snow Issued by the Met Office at 09:45 on Saturday, 24 December
OVERALL RISK ASSESSMENT: The probability of disruption due to severe weather conditions in part of the United Kingdom within the next 5 days is 70 percent.
This warning is an update to that issued at 09:48 on Friday 22 December 2005.
The Met Office expects snow showers to become frequent over southern and eastern parts of the United Kingdom from Boxing day evening and continue for the following few days. The areas most at risk are eastern counties of England, particularly East Anglia and Kent, but northeast England is now considered rather more at risk than indicated yesterday.
There is potential for several centimetres of snow in places, but there remains some uncertainty regarding accumulations and areas affected.
It is important to keep in touch with updated Met Office forecasts and warnings.
This warning will be updated by 1000, tomorrow, Christmas Day.
