Traffic around Bradford...
« on: December 24, 2005, 10:43:47 »
What's it likely to be like around Bradford this afternoon??

Thought I might head along the A65 to get across to the M6 (as suggested by BTM a while ago) rather than my normal route across the A66.

Or what about the route around the north side of Leeds (A6120) and then up to Otley and across to the A65?

Roads will be clear of the species known as "male" as they will mostly be in the shopping centres running around, sighing, moaning and being generally grumpy as they find all that is left in the shops is tat, and they have yet to do any Christmas shopping!

The roads will be very quiet as, "women", will most likely be at home, staying away from the shopping centres, knowing how bad it will be today.  They will be at home safe in the knowledge that all is done and anything that is not done will stay not done as that is the law of "stuff it, I've had enough and done my bit".  :D

Your worst part will be between entering the city limits, if you leave the M62 at jct 27 & getting to Shipley.
Once Shipley is reached, it's plain sailing
Bingley by-pass
Conningley dual-carriageway
Skipton by-pass
Settle by-pass

You're so right Julie; I had to take my brats into Hinckley this afternoon; and the drunken bloke who said "You got any Chanel?" summed up the 'last minute rush' phenomenon; the shop did have Chanel "It's a skincare set sir" said the assistant
"Oh, I only know the scent stuff; Oh that'll do" said the thoughtful husband!!!
Nice to know how much thought goes into their gift-shopping isn't it?? :(blackeye):

Well, unfortunately I'd left work by the time your post appeared, Richard. But thanks anyway.

Did the A45 route both ways. I ended up using the M606 and then around the ring road to the west of Bradford. Not too much traffic but the scenic A45 was wasted...... it was dark...... and foggy!!

Quite a nice run back though. It did take about 30 mins longer than we usually manage going via the A66. But the bonus is it makes the A1 bit much shorter and that can only be a good thing!
