Camera Mount
« on: December 28, 2005, 16:12:14 »
A cheshire group recently did some lanes around buxton and it was mentioned that we should get a video camera mounted on the passengers handle (300 series disco)

Im wondering if anyone has already attempted such a mount and could possibly share there mounting blueprints :)

Cheers!

I often use a small mp4 recorder mounted on a small tripod, cant think of the name of it but got it from blacks. Has velcro attatched to it that allows fastening to round/square objects. Prob wouldnt work with large camcorder but would with some of the smaller stuff around now.

With a bit of luck Paul will be about later.
He has a mount that fits on a grab handle.

It's pretty good.

And as if by magic he apears. :D

I've got a nice cam clamp that fits to the grab handle.

Picked mine up from here: http://www.b-hague.co.uk/Mounting%20Brackets.htm

I bought mine from a local camera shop. It's basically a fancy G Clamp with telescopic height adjustment along with tilt and pan. Cost me £60 but it's a well made piece of kit.
I was slightly miffed to find a budget version in Maplins for £9.99  :(mad):

Thanks all. That one of Pauls looks like just what is needed :)

Maplins is a dangerous place, I always come out with much more than I need.  Its sort of a local version of VWP

I use this suction camera mount, it's made it through 2 Belgium Nationals and 2 trips round Langdale's Apline course without coming off so must be quit good.

It is a wee bit on the expensive side, but good quality and can be mounted on the roof, bonnet, windows, doors...............

It's at the bottom of this page.  :D

I use one of these

combined with one of these

It'll clamp onto most things and at any angle

A word of warning on the suction ones....  they're very good but don't leave them stuck on a window on a hot sunny day, the black rubber concentrates the heat and can cause the glass to crack

Here is what I use for inside shots with a DV cam

The same rig as used on Top Gear

And the Mini waterproof cam for outside shots in the mud
