First Holiday Of The Year
« on: January 03, 2006, 01:04:05 »
Now that Christmas & New Year are out of the way. It's time to think about holidays.
The Hissyclan are relocating to a "wee" place near Aberfoyle more precisely Kinlochard.
Does anyone have any suggestions for places to go, or any interesting rides out within 50-100 miles
We'll be up Sat 25 Feb - Sat 4 March
Any ideas would be good

Cheers Andy

Drive to Loch Katrine (you can hire bikes and cycle around it). Just before the end of the road there is a car park on the left with a path going up past the woods on the right. Walk up that through the woods across the clearing and up the the short but steep "wee Ben An". It only takes a good half hour but on a clear day but the views across Loch Katrine to the mountains are absolutely amazing.

Alternatively, drive the road to Inversnaid on the east coast of Loch Lomond - great view - fantastics waterfall and nice cup of tea.

Conic Hill near Balmaha lower down the east coast of Loch Lomond is also worth the effort for the views.

Sorry, was n't into off-rading when I lived up there - I was a RAMBLER !!!!

Mikee / David
Thanks for the input guys.
We stay at a place call Forest Hills                           http://www.foresthills-hotel.co.uk/pages/holidays.html on the road to Inversnaid.
I was looking for the forest drive type thing. To get me out of the usual shopping trips to Stirling/Edinburgh.
I might get my Billy Connelly World Tour of Scotland video out again and watch the helicopter fly the road to Inversnaid.
