miles per tank (TD5)
« on: January 10, 2006, 21:11:51 »
How many miles should i be doing per tank full of derv.
I here different answers but mine so far has been doing.

350 but no more than 400 miles on a run ie motorway with cruse controle at 60 mph.(Air condition off).

With the amount of fuel i replace i have worked it out from 17mpg to 20. Does this sound right?

Daz

2001 td5 with 73k on the clock, full dealer service.
Last service end of Nov 05 which was the 72k miles.
Starts first time but sometimes smokes when booting.

Thanks

Mine does about the same, can sometimes get 400 before filling up.

Smokes if you really boot it to blow the Chavs off at the lights.

Under normal driving no smoke.

Mine, a manual, is currently doing about 22-24mpg (or about 410-450 to the tank).

You don't say if yours is an auto or manual.

Mine went thru a time when it was doing less than 18mpg regularly.  Put it down to a faulty air temp and pressure valve (found on the inlet manifold).  It was getting all clogged up by oily gunk from the EGR.  Blanked off the EGR and cleaned the sensor and it immediately went up to 21mpg.

Worth a try . . .

a lot depends on how heavy your right foot is...?  i get around 27-29 mpg 450-500 to the tank but rarely fill it all the way, the second half always does more mpg cos of less weight.... possibly

i'll get me coat

Mine seems to do about 300 miles on the first half tank, and then the needle drops like a brick for the second half.

Simon,

That is due to the logarithmic scale that the gauge uses :-)
