Theres been a meaty looking lorry stuck at a local beach for a couple of weeks now and while my son and I were sitting on the beach in the discovery one of the locals came over and he said it came to pull a couple of cars out of the sand and in the process got stuck itself.

Anyway, about 20 minutes later a few people with a tractor, a toyota pickup and a 200TDi turned up to try and pull it out, with no luck.

I took some pictures with my phone, sorry about the quality.

The lorry looks like it is missing its front off side wheel but it is there its just buried under mud and sand !

Apparently they are going to try again tomorrow with 2 tractors but I dont think they are going to have any luck, they need to lift the thing up really to get the wheel out.

looks like they need a big crane and an even bigger tractor! looks like good fun to watch though

HMMMMM that looks well stuck, its a wonder its not been vandalised being left out there. they certainly have a job on there hands it looks a heavy beast.

blooming tractor isnt big enough

thats a mid-range ford, they need a big Fendt to pull the poor sod out

Apparently this is the 4th attempt at moving it. The front has actually sunk down to the chassis. The rear is on pretty hard sand but they obviously tried wheel spinning it a lot as the rear wheels are at least 2 feet down in the pit left by the tyres.

It was interesting to watch, I dont know anything about tractors but it looked big enough to me but the big chain they were using, and this was a really meaty chain just snapped, the lorry didnt budge. They then doubled the chain over and tried again but the tractor was just slipping and sliding all over the show.

My boy stood watching transfixed by it all.

its a marmon army truck all they need is three landies with good winches and snatch blocks to get that out the landies would need to be ground anchored down and all pulling at the same speed

How about 8 or 10 mudclub vehicles, would have thought if anyone can then mudclubbers should be able to get it unstuck!

NIce track vehicle would do better with that mire (better traction), or see if the raf want to do a practice recovery with a chinook

Yes, it seems as though the ground pressure will be a factor in this one, get too close & you'll be joining it.

Or one of the old mil recovery wagons with 200feet of winch cable, to sit on the hard ground and or ground anchor to hold them still

the area the lorry is, it is a mixture of sand and mud which is almost saturated with seawater. As the front tyre is now at least 2 and a half feet below the surface of the sand it is also about a foot below the high tide water level. If it wasnt for the chassis spreading the weight the lorry would be well under by now.

I think the chinook is a good idea, and a lot more exciting to watch too !

I will go tomorrow and take the digital camera, much better picture than the mobile. That is assuming it hasn't been recovered of course.

That would be fun, the down wash will destroy the canvas back and sand blast everything within a 100 yards!

It's not 'proper' stuck. You can still see the bonnet.

If I had some of the equipment from work, I would have it out in less than 30 mins.

put a proper tractor on it, or use a big wrecker with a sprak on harder ground to winch it out, would never have left it their this long!
