lt77 gear box to a range rover V8 box??

I have an old 1982 range rover V8 lump which i intende to pop in to a disco but im un sure weather ill have to change the gear box to. The disco has a lt77 box in it god only nos what the rangie one is.
Any ideas?????.

yea if the disco was a V8 you should be fine but if it was a tdi the bell housing length and input shaft length are different if i recall correctly

your right but i know you can get an adaptor plate to mate the v8 up.... just cant remember who does them!! :roll:

so if i was to change the bell housing off my v8 box to the  discos box i should be able to mate the two sucsessfuly?
What about the starter is this a prob?
The disco was a 200tdi.

i,m not sure the rangie bell housing woulfd fit :?  probably best to speak to ashcrofts they would know and also what parts would be needed i suspect
