Disco V8 and Rangie V8 question??

i was wondering with so many 4.0 and 4.6 engines going kaboom when fitted in Rangies, why doesnt the same problem seem to happen to Disco's. or does it happen but just not reported, as you may know i was going to buy a P38 but almost all the cars that were for sale had a replacement engine at some time, surly this shoud be the same in a Disco, or am i missing something??, a lot less Disco V8's maybe??

It has been said that the weight of the P38a *and* the mapping of the cruise fuelling did not help.

HOWEVER :- Rover V8's are marked with a coloured flash on the front (a spot of paint above in the front of the V to mark quality)

What's yours?

There are more V8 RR P38a's out there than the underpowered 2.5 ones ISTR - mainly due to the fact that for a few years there was no DHSE.So yes, that does the figures in too, as it's like 1 in 10 Discovery's that are V8.

ill have a look tomorow and let you no the colour thats if i can see it, its the thor injection system seems quite a big piece of kit, whats the colours mean then, block thickness ???, i did read somewere they xray the blocks and the thicker ones whent on the 4.6

The 4.6, and your 4.0 are cross bolted. However - that's not the issue :-) It's the liners that usually fail.

A blue flash on the engine is probably what you have, as the others are either sub standard, or went to performance V8 vehicles.
