I was at Woolley Edge Services on the M1 (between 38 & 39) this afternoon to meet 'Range Rover Blues' (Andy) to 'do a bit of business'

On my arrival, I had some time to kill, so gazed around.
There was a Sagaris on a beaver-tail transporter looking all forlorn

I'd gone in for a Tea whilst waiting.
Andy came in and we had a chat about all sorts of various subjects & their apparant absurdity, modern art, being one   Ie, Tracy Emins 'Unmade Bed'.
We decided it's all utter rubbish!!!

Scammells, AVRoe Vulcans being others

On returning to the vehicles we were just about to go our separate way when I spotted this lovely little plaything.

For the benefit of non-camflague followers, it's an Alvis Scorpion
That's the one with the 4.2 (straight-6) Jaguar engine that will (reputedly) travel at about 50-65mph

We think that it's a display/recruitment model going by the steps also strapped on to it.

The supporting Scammell was a nice rig as well, just the job for Green-Laning :D

And much to my embarrasment, it's a S26. The S24 was a normal control

Thought they were scimtars?

That was what we used to call them

The leyland is using the roll on/off body system, very useful, no ramps needed, quick turnaround on drop offs

btw 243*****

and the newest ones are 252 my lads just got his

It's obviously a pretty late Scammell as It's wearing the DAF badge, just painted over.

And I wouldn't mind that front bumper on a Disco :)

You may find you disco would be a little bit nose heavy with that iron work on there, but resembling a bulldozer

Very simalier but differant turret sabre uses fox turret and has chain gun not gpmg  scimtars have there own turret plus look at turet bins they arelong and thin as turret is lower than scimtars the bins on which are deep could go on lots of little differances. I was with the sqn that trailed them out and the first to notice the chain gun was mounted upsidedown

Little nose heavy perhaps, but it'd give all the Chavs round here something to think about...

EDIT: My dad used to have a Leyland Constructor (here) which had that cab on it, only the smaller version (as can be seen by the single headlights and the wings). The bumper wasn't has heavy as it looks actually, as it was completley aluminium, and the one on that Scammall just looks like a heavily modified one.
