I see Channel 4 havn't stumped up the cash to buy new Discoverys for Time Team,is it that a Discovery is now too expensive for them or is it that Tony Robinson can't reach the pedals.

Hate time team, hate the dwarf.

How the hell can these idiots call themselves archaeologists?  They go stomping into a site, rip off the top layers to get to the ones that they are interested in.

Doesn't sound too bad, but a Roman site would have 1600 years of contextual layers above it and they rip it off with a JCB.

The only place for TR et al is UNDER a discovery.

HATE.

I think Time Team is great, they bring an otherwise hidden history to life and make people who would otherwise not be aware, aware of our history.  Their tactics may not be the most gentle, but at least they are bringing history and archaeology to the masses.

From what I've seen of time team they're methods are a bit brutal, but most of the shows I've watched have been sites discovered during building work.

Unfortunately in those situations time is limited and difficult decisions have to be made usually resulting in the use of heavy machinary.

It's not the way it would be done in an ideal situation, but then situations like that never are.

Some of the wild (to say the least) assumptions that are made make me smile though. :D

Maybe he has a "cunning plan" to reach the pedals.

I think time team is a great proggy, It makes a change from watching endless repeats.  It makes a change from watching endless repeats.  It makes a change from watching endless repeats....
