I’ve recently fitted driving lights to the front of my Discovery TD5. Not being the most electrically minded person, I followed the instructions that came with the wiring kit; all seemed well. 8)
The lights worked fine with high beam, and could be turned off with the dashboard switch provided.
Problems started when I decided to change the ridiculously bright dashboard switch for a proper LR switch; one that fits below the foglight switches.
My original switch had three pins, earth, live and main beam (Simple). The LR switch has five pins. Having checked the foglight switches above I found that the centre pin was not used. A quick circuit test revealed the earth, a constant live, a side light live (for switch illumination when lights are on) and a further live, this one showing no power until the fogs were activated.
All this seemed reasonable so I connected my live, earth and high beam. I then ran a wire from one of the other switches for side light feed.
My new switch lights up when the side lights are on. The light comes on when the high beam is on but nothing happens. The light on the switch doesn’t go out when pressed, and the driving lights don’t work. :?
Help!!!
