Im in a bit of a quandry as to what to do .
I've got a series 2a 2.25 petrol thats not on the road at the mo , need to do a couple of jobs first but what im wondering is ....................... do i do it up and sell it and buy a disco or do i spend the money that i would on buying the disco on the series ???
I think i could go further with adding bits to a disco and i think that on longer runs the disco would be a better drive .
I'd be looking at either a 200 or 300tdi and be using it for laning , play days and any other fun things i can think of as well as the odd trip to work and round about .
If i sold the series for a grand i'd have roughly 5-6k to spend in total .
So please can i have your views
Many thanks in advance

I had a series 3 which dont get me wrong was fab and great fun to drive and I loved it but as it needed a new rear x member soon and my dream car has always been a disco I sold up and put a few others things on eblag and bought a bargain disco.
I would go for the disco if you wanna do long runs etc. Also now doing a pay and play site yesterday for the first time in the disco it was alot easier with power steering and comfort inside! The series was better for ramp ove angle though and would have done loads more hills the disco couldnt do.
I will buy a series again in the future one day when I have the money / space/ knowledge to repair it/ time etc etc

There are arguments for both sides, my view is go for the Disco (but that is my biased opinon).
I'd recommend you head to your pub meet at the Milestone Hinkley, and use your charm (or beer tokens  ) to get yourself a ride in a Disco and see how it compares, the comfort is infinately better.
I think there is also a greenlaning run down your way soon, you could either go or try to get yourself a passenger seat in a Disco to see how they perform off road.
That might sway your own opinion one way or the other, remember - it is you that will have to live with your descision

That kind of money will buy a nice Defen'er. Best of both worlds, still a 'Proper Landy' but reliable and reasonably comfy
Go on, ya know ya wanna! :D

I have thought about a defender as well but i think i could get a reasonably good cheep disco and then spend a bit on adding all the toys to it as thats the biggest outlay after buying a 4x4 .
Defenders seem to hold the money very well and i dont think i would get a good one for the same money as i'd spend on a disco .
Im going to take a run down to brightwells auction in hereford in the next few weeks and see whats going through there and how much there making , may end up getting a bargain , who knows .
thanks for all the replys so far .
