Out & About. Wednesday 15th February

'BTMs Thread'

As it says I've 'out & about' this morning, not far away I was only gone for a couple of hours or so.

One thing I did see was my old 50th Discovery is still for sale & has been re-plated now back to the re-issued (original) number.

On one small unclassified side-lane that I stopped on (surfaced, not a byway, or RUPP) was that all the Sheep in the field congregated (or came running) by the wall as I got out of the 110 :?
Is this a phenomenon that other Series/Defender drivers suffer??

(perhaps they heard my radio with that Welsh postman talking on the Ken Bruce show   )
I must say, I've had it once before up on top of Stake Moss when I had the other 110 a few years ago. Most disconcerting at times

About a mile or so before the friendly Sheep I also passed the site of our little (almost) 'Head On' a few weeks ago & I'm glad to report that the stone-wall has been rebuilt. :D

Heading up onto the long-drag (2 lanes uphil) onto the summit of Woodhead Pass gave the 110 a chance to stretch its legs (for once) & surprise the Sprinter driver sitting on my tail

I pulled off at Salters Brook Bridge in order to photograph it.
The depth of the stonework that bridges this gulley is impresssive, it reminds me in someways of Peter Jacksons interpretation of Helms Deep in 'The Lord Of The Rings' films
The original bridge is located on the Trans-Pennine Trail (shown just to the south).
Apologies no photograph, next time maybe

So now I approached Holme-Moss from the south side & what a wonderful climb it is.
Sadly it was wet & misty up there, with no chance of views like this at the top.

I had a brief sojourn onto Holmwoods Lane (2 images) but had to retrace my steps as I'd not realised the time & had to get back for the 'school-run' (it would have taken a while to potter around the base of the 'Moss' & then negotiate the back-lanes to Holmfirth (or Jackson Bridge)
Next time..................

Oh & whilst climbing up out of Holmfirth towards New Mill, I spotted a familiar shape partially hiding behind a stonewall on a building site.

An IBEX

It's not the best of shots, as I was leaning over the wall

I wonder if it's this one resprayed?
