rust hole ...what to do?
« on: February 18, 2006, 14:53:36 »
Found a hole in the chassis today  :cry:  Its 15mm long by 8mm. What to do?
Its not on a corner and its not near anything load bearing.

Do I get it plated now?
Or do I just rust treat it, fill it and waxol over the top?

I would get it cut out to good metal and let in a new section soon. If you are just waiting for better weather so you don't have to sit on a cold drive, slap some goo (filler) in for now and sort it in a couple of months.

You could always ask the local college if their welding teacher would like to use your vehicle as a test case? You'll be garuanteed a good job as the teacher will want to impress his students. "JUST A THOUGHT".

well if you fancy a drive for about 2 hours down to hampshire i do welding for a takeaway and bottle of something tasty :-)

Seriously though a plate over seem weleded wont cost too much esp if you do the prep (about the same as the fuel to get to me!
)
