scorpian do them

but if they dont brake whats going to give instead, may be a cheapish weak link rather than doing diffs etc!

What wheels have you got? I've got a set of 200TDi Defender shafts that are supposed to be very good (LR original parts) but they won't fit inside an alloy wheel.  Had all new bearings in the stub axles and hubs, new CV joints etc.

Thanks mate.............im using modular steel wheels with 265/75/16 grizzly's...........so much grip that something always breaks at the slightest stuck.........had a look at scorpion but they only do the 24spline half shafts.......

I know the defender axle set up is diferent to the disco...........the disco has a cv joint with removable shafts from both sides (if that makes sence) where as the defender ones have the outer shaft as part of the cv joint..........maybe have a look and see if it can be changed.

What sort of beer tokens we looking at for the defender shafts etc ??

Thanks

I'd leave the standard ones in just to add a nie cheap weak link

i ran with 33 12/50 procomp x terrains with arb lockers front and back and used to reckon on 1 half shaft per outing. they were 24 spline though
Never managed to break a front one though. rears are a doddle to change, just make sure you carry spares.

theres also the possibility that driving style and right foot maybe to blame for the breakages!!

You have the same axles as I have, the ABS RRC/Disco are the same as Defender though.  You can easliy fit all this to your axles, I had it all in mine 'till I tried to fit the wheel #-o

Anyway, let me work out what it cost me as I put a lot of new parts into it ](*,)

I'll pm in a few days.

Out of interest how have you managed to break them so often? And exactly how cheap are the 24 spline ones to replace?

Cheers

Im not 100% sure..........far too much grip from the grizzly claw's and when you loose traction when they bit (on rocks) which they do the half shafts give up the ghost first.........need to learn to stop and try a different route.
But i have now got a 300tdi disco which has 24 spline diffs etc and has do far less miles and i also have a very good supply of axles etc.

Can't talk for Richie, but in my experience it is usually to do with the connection between the brain and the right foot!

I sold a couple of 24 spline rear halfshafts for £15 each on ebay a while back.  Complete axle should be around the £100 mark, but some diffs seem to be fetching silly money on their own.
