Bit of snow and we go to pieces!
« on: March 02, 2006, 20:59:06 »
We had a few inches of snow last night. The gritters have been out all night so the roads are slushy at worst.

On my way in to work, all of twelve miles, there were three accidents and a couple of near misses just caused by idiots not driving to suit the conditions and not breaking in time .

Listening to local radio on the way in and they are advising people to stay off the roads unless necessary and that some train and bus services won't be running. Fair enough i can understand services in and out of north wales who had heavy snow, but routes in to through City centre and out laying areas :?.

What an earth is the country coming to when we cant cope with a bit of snow. Would love to see how we would cope with several foot of snow through out most of the country  .

Most of it was gone by lunch time so didn't even get a chance to go and play. Although the company in the next office building held a competition to see who could build the rudest snow sculpture. Provided much amusement watching from my nice warm office.

Sorry this turned in to a bit of a rant. Safe now, i'm done.
Regards
Matthew

Walsall CC 'forgot' to grit the roads last night. All the other CCs around did. It was funny. Everybody could go anywhere they wanted except into walsall which was at a standstill. Unfortunatly, J10 of the M6 is in walsall and the approaches ground to a halt.

I watched 4 cars smash into a fence post on the school drive. All within 5 minutes of each other.

its 16 miles from door to door to work

95% of it is the m6

all this week ive spent nigh on an hour on it solid each morning, and bout 30mins at night

why?

cos drivers poo themselves when they go over orrell hill southbound and the sun is in their eyes, so they panic and anchor it

or they see cars come out of wigan junctions (orrell and ashton) and swing into the middle lane doing 50mph or slower (whilst cars doing 70+ have to brake hard to avoid the accident thus causing more chaos

its not worth going to work anymore in rushhour! :(

yesterday afternoon

i left manchester at 4.20 hitting the 602 at this time, i hit the m6 at 5.40

why

no one knows, there wasnt an accident just everyone standing still

christ what makes people drive like dilberts in this weater!
