I know which I like

And guess who also made the 'big bucks' from it??
Why, of course it's Dolly, as she wrote it

A true 'rags to riches' story

Her recent (10years or so) recordings have returned to her roots & are well grounded in Bluegrass musis
CD's like
The Grass Is Blue' & 'Little Sparrow'
Richard A Thackeray
Defender 110Td5 'Heritage Gone, but not forgotten
Jaguar XKR; X88 JLT, also 'gone, but not forgotten'

Yorkshire Born & Bred, and proud of it.

I prefer Dolly's version. It is more natural whereas Whitney is too clinically perfect version crisp and precise.

Remember though, if artists never copied other peoples songs then parents wouldn't be able to embarrass their children   when they sing along to songs which the children think are new.

As much as I like Dollys singing, I'm not too keen on the 'Jolene'/'Nine to Five', etc..... period

I much prefer the early recordings, for example;
'In My Tennessee Mountain Home'
'Coat Of Many Colours'

And the later ones, again, for example;
'Mountain Angel'
'The Grass Is Blue'
Cash On The Barrel-Head'
'I Still Miss Someone'

(Also like Trisha Yearwood & Dixie Chicks)
Richard A Thackeray
Defender 110Td5 'Heritage Gone, but not forgotten
Jaguar XKR; X88 JLT, also 'gone, but not forgotten'

Yorkshire Born & Bred, and proud of it.

'Coat Of Many Colours'

Her first album, apparently.

I'm a bit more in favour of the Australian Rock band with the unfortunate name
Blue,  1988  Range Rover 3.5 EFi with plenty of toys bolted on
Chuggaboom, 1995 Range Rover Classic
1995 Range Rover Classic Vogue LSE with 5 big sticks of Blackpool rock under the bonnet.

Far prefr the Dolly version.

WH's version has the same effect on me as 'that bl@@dy titanic song'  whereby I wish the singer would have gone down with the boat :D

Rumour has it there will be a Rammstein version soon(I wish) :D  :D  :D
If I wanted a clever answer, I'd have asked a clever person!

i`ll listen to a lot of differant things.....

VERY varied, but that sorta stuffs a bit soppy/retro for my liking!

i`ll listen to anything from current chart (bulk of it is sh*te!) to broken drum n bass, to indie, rock, trance, minimalist techno, metal.. just means wherever i go theres a reasonable chance of hearing something i like!

It has been said that, given enough time, a million monkeys bashing at a million typewriters would eventually produce the complete works of Shakespeare. Thanks to the Saxo forums, we now know this to be wrong
