done some off roading yesterday and in the deep water it bent the fan a burst the rad just wondering if others have had the same problem

Throw the flaming thing out (fan), fit an electric unit instead, even in summer I never needed the lectric one when on a run, only when playing at low speeds and town driving

You can either fit a thermo switch or a manual switch, depends on how much of an eye you keep on the temp guage
There is a number of controllers out there,
Wizard does a good one, with a variable temp controller, works fine on my hybrid 300 tdi unit

think i will go for a thermal switch may tap one into the side of the rad or just buy a variable controler

Mate of mine in BAD (Buxton And District) does his fan a rad in everytime there is a play day, told him the first time to fit a leccy fan he didn't and prolly still hasn't.

With a thermal switch you may want to fit a cut off switch as well, saves you having a short out on the fan if you go thorugh water

thought of that so may just put a switch on the dash for it fitted the fan today with the new rad so ready for some more mud and water

A on off on switch can be useful, on with the thermo, off and on when you want it. If the Thermo goes west you can still use fan.
Would suggest looking at Pace fan.
Make sure there is plenty of clearance between the top pully and the fan unit otherwise fan unit may enter rad. :oops: when off road

i have put the new fan in front of the rad its on a switch for the moment until i can get a controler
