1mm is for looks only, to act as a barrier you need 2-3mm

the arches on my sj are knackered. there are big gaps between the skins, i have got rid of the rust, and filled with foam filler, and car filler, however since the panels are shagged i cannot easily fit the flares back on. I was thinking of putting a sheet of ali check plate over the top of the whole panel with pop rivets, and then attach my arches back th that. It is not worth the cash to replace the panels, but surely some check plate would suffice!?

any other solutions appreciated.

Do you know Huddersfield at all?
If you do and you know where charlie browns is, go down the side of charlie browns into the industrial estate go as far up the yard and as far to the right as possible. You'll find a place called P&D fabrications. Cheap as chips.
Cheers, Karl..

Believe it or not B&Q do a 1mm chequer plate which I used to good effect to plate up the rear bumper on my Sammy. They have it in stock at the Castleford branch.
