Made a nice change.....
« on: March 07, 2006, 15:34:39 »
Took my mother out on some lanes on Sunday and on one section there was an elderly couple walking their dog in the other direction. I pulled over and waited. The woman got ahead of her husband because the elderly dog was lagging behind an he was left to retrieve it. She stopped at the passenger window and apologised for keeping us waiting, then asked if it was OK to walk along this lane! Now, that made a change

I informed her it was actually a road, which made her smile as she looked at the surface! Then her husband turned up and after a bit more conversation, off they went.

We must have met at least a dozen walkers and all smiled and thanked us for pulling over. We even had an audience at one of the fords... kids waving, etc.  :D

There is simply no substitute for politeness. A commodity sadly lacking these days. Helped make a very pleasant afternoon.

i highly suspect they were up to something..

is smoking cannabis prevalent in the area??  :?

It has been said that, given enough time, a million monkeys bashing at a million typewriters would eventually produce the complete works of Shakespeare. Thanks to the Saxo forums, we now know this to be wrong

I was out marking up another route card for our May camping weekend. the route includes 4 fords. After we'd finished I carried on to a few more fords at Little Walsingham (hard surface roads, these ones) and then took a look at the one at Shereford. Not been there before, but a really pretty ford next to a mill. There is a post in the middle to keep you away from the deep bit next to the wier    :D Only about 18" deep but quite fast flowing.

We have the oldest known cultivated 'weed' found in a village just down the road! Dated to the 5th century AD
