I think you'll struggle to find anyone here who thinks Laning should be banned.

You'll almost certainly get some different views about what people's conduct on PRoW should be, but when all is said and done, it is a pastime which many of us enjoy, and which (I would think), all of us believe is perfectly acceptable.

....why??

Bobmaf, maybe you are asking that question on the wrong site!!

It has been said that, given enough time, a million monkeys bashing at a million typewriters would eventually produce the complete works of Shakespeare. Thanks to the Saxo forums, we now know this to be wrong

we should have a national GREEN LANE DAY where everybody uses a local greenlane and records its use to save it from closure
this is a similar idea to canals and public footpaths where users prove that a canal/public footpath is in use
Never underestimate the power of a sick mind !!!!
What would scooby doo!!!!
remember if you camp next to the toilets you get to meet everybody at least once over the weekend

Every day can be a green lane day  :D  . Why only record your use on a certain day?

cheers

I had to vote No!

But the devil in me hovered over the Yes vote for a while then suddenly sanity took over and my hand quickly moved to vote No.

Good to see 2% say Yes though. I just couldn't do it though.

There is already a national green lane day, obviously not so well known of but there most certainly is.

I have attended a number of times with a number of different clubs, mostly what happens on the day is work on the lanes to keep them open repairing where needed.

Maybe i am wrong and that of the 4 or 5 clubs i am/ have been a member of just make a date up and it happens then.

I have to agree though that a 'Poll' on if green laning should or should not be banned on whats essentially a 4x4 club which promotes the use of greenlanes and all things 'offroading' (not to confuse the two) is really a bit of a dumb thing really.

Not questioning your intelligence at all but, that said what did you honestly expect the result would be ?

Essentially promoting the use of 4x4's other than to run the kids to school or to go shopping can NOT be a bad thing, if nothing else it keeps the anti's off the backs of us all. (not that driving the kids to school in a 4x4 is a bad thing)

My eldest daughter (8yrs) loves nothing more than me picking her up from school in the hybrid. (except maybe Ballet/Street Dance/Horse Riding/Cubs and food)

Sorry for ranting coat, hat, door

Repair work can take place any time but the dates are arranged to be before and after nesting season etc.

We've just opened up a footpath in Notts that has been changed to a BOAT allowing vehicular use. The best bit of the day was taking down the footpath sign and replacing it with the supplied County Council Byway marker.

No it shouldn't be banned, after all they are roads (just not suitable for the average car/van).

Should greenlaning be banned?? What a silly question! Should we ban people driving down the M1?????
Both public highways, both have the same legal requirements, strangely though the Ramblers don't seem as keen to walk straight down the middle of the M1....... :(biglaugh):
