Is it the correct battery and are the contacts in the remote nice and clean to make a good connection.

Also consider the chance of a duff replacement battery i.e old stock.

On the 300's:
If the button on the remote is pressed while it's away from the vehicle then it will be out of sync with the vehicle alarm and needs to be pressed 3 times within range of the vehicle before it will operate the locks & alarm.

Could this be what is happening?  :-k

I know I have to stand there waving the remote around the Disco sometimes to get the thing to work and it normally that I've pressed the remote while it's been in my pocket.  #-o

my alarm fob only works if i am standing next to the car unless i point it at my neck then it works from 10 feet away :?  i know people who have had new fobs and then the remote worksd from about 10-20 feet away which is better but the local landy dealer told me they werent designed at the time to work from a distance as newer cars do

Jezza on Top Gear showed us that once, if you touched the remote against your head it did increase the range..... and it works!

Until you get it fixed it might be worth giving it a try

I find usefull most when greenlaning, I'll lock the car and wander off to walk a lane or something, then my nephew will go back and can't get in.

The remote on the head trick saves some walking

Something else I found out about the 300 alarm system, if you're in a crash there's a sensor which turns the hazard lights on and unlocks all the doors via the central locking. You have to remove the ignition key and reset the alarm with the fob.

I found this out after my wife stuffed the rear bumper into a rock whilst playing in a huge mud hole. Yep she hit it that hard the alarm thought she'd crashed !!!

Do your indicators flash 4 times when you lock the car with the zapper? ine used to and now it doesnt but does if  lock it with the key. I was told if the lights dont flash then I need a new battery. Do you have to reprogram the fob if the battery is changed?
