DEFENDER TD5 REPLACEMENT
« on: March 13, 2006, 21:34:35 »
So on a wish list, which Ford engine is or should replace the Td5, my vote would be the V6 diesel thats in the Disco 3. Its about time the Defender had a silky smooth engine.

It's getting the new Peugeot/Ford Diesel that will appear on the Freelander first. Depends on launch dates of Freelander and availability of units as to when we will see it in production. Likely to be 2007, MY2008.

Cheers

Aye, the revised defender is having a transit engine which is being bored out a bit, its also having a 6 speed box, front facing rear seats and a few other bits too...and that info came from landrover themselves!

The NEW defender will be a completely different beast :)

The Dura engine, dont they put that in the Ranger pickup, if so, thats only 109 bhp, one must assumne that it will be more inline with the Transits, as the modern ones give your motorway Merc Sprinters a run for there money.

the ranger has a nissan engine in it, the duratorq is ok on the larger engine sizes but they become hellish rattly after a while :?
