Well done m8.

The prices are ridiculous though.  7K for a house, 3K for a secondhand Disco

I've got a feind in Croatia.  He is english but fought in the war out there and is now married to a Croatian lass.  He was over for the dig last weekend and couldn't believe how much the house prices are over here.  He reckons that for the equity in our house we could buy a small village in Croatia.

Best of luck with the renovation, if you need to employ locals to do the work just remember that they earn about 15%  of what we earn .... don't pay them too much, you'll spoil them!

I noticed that in Romania.  Youd be travelling down the road on a good metalled surface when all of a sudden the tarmac would end.  Then the fun started.

At night there would be a very faint red glow in front .... there were no street lights.  The red glow turned out to be farmer Piles in his horse drawn cart  which had a red bucket on the back with a torch glowing through it!

its out of the norm and not the type of place where "benidorm" type people go

Can't comment on Bulgaria but Croatia is fine.  Taking mine there in September for the village festivals.
