The 90, then, a bit later and now

Well the 90 had been 'fun' over the last couple of months.  She started off as a Blue, chequer and yellow pick up and now looks a little different.

What do you think of the transformation?

glad you took off those modular hubs! looks much better without them IMV.

in the first picture please tell me that the hi-lift isnt cable tied on is it?

no idea what the hi-lift was held in with!

I took the hub things off cus they just hide problems if you start to get a leak (which I had two of underneath!)

Bigger boots.. hmmm  - she's got 265/75/16s on which are actually .1 inch smaller in diameter than 233/85/16s.  Even with the 2 inch lift the tyres just catch on the wheel arch flairs under certain articulation.  Not sure if I should just cut them back a little or not though (any suggestions?)

What wheel/tyre size do you reckon then?

gotta be 33" min - get some extended bump stops from paddocks as well they help - they are about £7 each or so.

I love spending other peoples money!

I've got half a set of paddocks bump stops removed from the disco :-)

Can't afford tyres for the mo though - although I do have a set of grizzlies in 235/85/16s kncoknig about although they are a bti noisey on the road!

i had one of those "oh blast, why did i do this" after I'd scratched up all the panels with a drill mounted cup brush (didn't dare use an anglegrinder one!)

The green wasn't going on so well and I had a few runs.  Next day I rubbed back the runs and thinned the paint a little more and it went on fine.. OK so close up you can tell it's not a spray job (brush and roller), there are a few marks and thick bits, but with a bit of age and mud it'll look fine..  From about 4 feet it looks really good  (I hope it does anyway!)  besides how many people go up to 3inches and inspect the paint?  :shock:


Things to do...
Got to figure out how to fit this rear wheel carrier then I can get the mud club cover back on :)
Fit rear bench seat (£10 off ebay inc seat belts!)  There's a window on one side (helps pullig out of junctions) So the seat will face the window
Fit stereo
Refit CB aerial
finally.... Go mud plugging!

oh, I'venot decided whether to paint the roof or not- thought it's easier to paint than to unpaint, and also liked the idea of it looking partly civvy.

thanks for the possitive comments -I was aiming for tasteful and practical  without spending too much money...  After going away for a long weekend to the lakes it was apparant that a pickup whilst great for a pure off roader, wasn't practical when loaded up and wanting to leave it anywhere for more than 2 minutes with all the gear in the back.

As it's a matt finish the water doesn't run off so well so the roof would probably only end up getting a bit manky anyway.  The white does look good from a few feet away - still needs a good wash close up (something abotu chicken feathers Jeff!)

Here is my 110 I had a few years ago - notice a theme?  This one was nato green rather than OD though - can;t really see much difference in the colours from the pics though!
