To stop getting s**t like this through the post, just join the mail preference register (type 'mail pref' into google and it should take you to the correct site).  There is also the telephone preference service, which will stop you getting telesales calls.
Make sure you get the correct spelling (mail, not male), as those d**n pictures of the chippendales take some deleting!!

Maybe the govt should put mega tax on bobble hats & hiking socks when purchased together?

Irrisponsible use of 4x4 is a problem, however at no time have i heard of ramblers etc. admit that there is such a thing as the reponsible use of 4x4's off road (or any other vehicle).

Which makes them as bad at spin as any govement you care to think off.

One thing that the 'Bobble hats' don't mention is that they drive 150 - 200 miles in their Mercs and B*W to get to the countryside in the first place.
One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.

Not to mention the ones that turn up in the Land Rover and get the bobble hats and boots out, then leave the LR cluttering up the pub car park for the day while they disappear out up Derbyshire or wherever :x

yer better not naff this up an come back to these shores or god help me yer auld aunt nelly will jump out of her grave an like as not kick yer teeth in......

i don't think its especially clever that to be proud of being a gas guzzler, if we start claiming that then we deserve to get taxed off the road.  By all means be proud of what you drive and don't let us get trampled on (or rambled on_ because of its guzzling but if people think we drive what we drive BECAUSE it guzzles gas, its not doing any of us any favours.

We pay to drive "Gas Guzzlers" every day. If my beast uses more fuel (Which it does) then I pay the government a fortune in tax. and that they don't want to loose, Budget put Road tax up £20, that's not even half a tank! no, it was there to appease the bobble hats and that's all. they think they have won, but I can still go get an nice new 4x4 and it'll cost me half a tank of fuel a year extra. so what!

Go look up the CO2 figures for:
BMW M5
BMW 760
Jag xk8
Porsche 911GT

Merc SLK AMG 55 http://www.parkers.co.uk/choosing/specs/data.aspx?model_id=1233&id=27944

Until they go off the roads, then 4x4s are not going to be hit either! Green lanes is a whole different problem, and legal use is likely to be hit by bad press, my local MP is for banning 4x4s on green lanes because he has had complaints, we have no green lanes, it's all illegal use of bridal paths and things like that. Useless halfwit MP, yep, did he listen to the errors of his ways.. Nope. This is what we are up against.

Move to France :)

I seem to remember parts of the Three Peaks route in the Yorkshire Dales, which is a long distance hike, having to be re-routed due to the amount of erosion caused by hiking boots. A path that ended up many, many times wider than it's original width.
This is just one instance, no doubt this has also happened in other parts of the country.
Why does this happen? Only one logical explanation I can see, that is that the path is so muddy from hundreds of walkers pounding these paths on a weekend that they have to deviate so far off so they don't get their designer boots muddy.
In fact it ended up with the National Park enlisting the help of a Army Chinook helecopter to airlift materials up to these paths to repair them, but even now, after many years, some of these paths are still closed!
Do you ever hear of ramblers taking responsibility for this - NO THEY DON'T.

The Snowdonia National Park spends a fortune every year airlifting materials to rebuild footpaths eroded away by people's footwear.

Only 5 years ago there was a stink that the bobble brigade were wandering off the paths and making their own parallel 'ruts'.
