I got accused of driving a gas guzzler twice today by kids at school. One of them was very amusing as he seemed proud that his dads car does 25mpg on the motorway. He wasnt amused when I pointed out that I get close to 30mpg around town  :P

Next was a 12 year old took a pop at me. Well he connected with my gut so I didnt feel anything. I like the lad so I was prepared to let it go as I was seperating a fight and he was in a red rage. Unfortunatly for him the incedent was spotted by 2 other members of staff so he will be looking for another school tomorrow.

The original fight would have got him excluded for a day or 2. Having a pop at a member of staff is a real no no especialy as he was under anger managment supervision.

I have been thumped twice in 12 months. The first time was a complete accident but as I took no action and, to be honest, didnt even notice the blow land on my cheek (another breaking up of a fight) my street cred with the kids went through the roof.

Unless you work for the NHS, then the management aren't really bothered about anyone belting you (unless it gets into the local papers)

Wow, if you puched a Teacher round here, weither it was during another fight or for the hell of it, you'd be out before you could say sorry...

It must be different for hitting teachers then... our eldest (12) got a pop bottle in the face, cut and black eye off another pupil during a lesson while the teacher was out of the classroom reprimanding another pupil.
His teacher think it's gone a bit far that the police want to prosecute the other child for common assault.

Seperately to this the teacher had put the class on 'class report' and told them any children whose name is written down more than three times will be getting a letter sent home to the parents.

So five parents have had a letter with photocopied pages telling them all about the behaviour and names of other children in the class and the last page states the name of the child who assaulted our eldest and that he was removed from the lesson for hitting another pupil with a bottle... something he's trying to deny apparently  :shock:

I've said it before, but I just DON'T like the sound of that school your son goes to Chris.

Bob's school has a no-nonsense discipline policy, especially when it comes to acts of violence - kid v kid included.

Being attacked by blades, or choked etc,  only appears to have a maximum penalty of a few weeks at my school.  Some drug addict and his mates tried to kill me once at school, I didn't know who his mates were as I couldn't see them while they hit the back of my head.  The guy was doing his best to choke me after his attempts at knocking me out with punches to my head failed.  :roll:

His punishment.  One week from school.  He was warned about it, and I and my father were told that if the lad did it again, the school would give support in going to the police about it (probably only for the guy to get a free holiday in the end!).  :?

Nothing actually happend from the guy again, but on the other hand, it was only a matter of weeks until school ended for the summer and he was in his last year at school. (GCSEs, not A Levels)

One of the main problems is that it is next to imposable to get a child expelled from a school. Exclusion (fixed term then come to school again) is much easier.

The government has decided that 'sink schools' are thing of the past and have decreed that all schools should take their share of the problem children. The idea being that the good attitude of the many will rub off on the few. Guess what, it doesn’t work that way. Now we have the situation where we are aiming at mediocrity. The low ability kids (normally the bad ones) are achieving more (not that they will use there low grade GCSEs on the dole or when cleaning toilets) whilst the good kids grades are dragged down.

IMHO there is a strong case to be made for vocational type schools where lower ability kids (or any others that chose to do so for that matter) can go and where they study the  key skills (maths english) and the rest of the time they are taught plumbing, building, mechanic etc. Leaving the other kids to get the GCSEs that may lead them to becoming the designers, engineers or architects of the future.

Oh yeah, the kids family have made a complaint against me for "using excessive force" claiming that I thumped him :roll:  Nothing to worry about though as the incident was seen by 3 other members of staff and over 100 kids (some of whom filmed it all with their mobile phones). Still a bit of a pisser though to think how stupid this family are.

Kate teaches in a comprehensive, and though she personally hasn't had any nasty incidents, most of her colleagues have. Thankfully, the SMT is quite supportive, unfortunately, more often than not their hands are tied.

As for me, well, I have already had words with two sets of parents, funnily enough, not about their offspring's behaviours, but about their own. Both sets acted obnoxiously, rudely, daringly, challenging me. Funny enough, when it came to the point when I took on their challenge, and got out of the car, they cautiously retreated, still shouting abuse :D

Honestly, sometimes I wish neutering for the good of society was allowed. It would un-populate many prisons, as well :D
