R380 Box
« on: March 22, 2006, 18:11:03 »
Hi Guys

Anyone know if the gearbox from a 300 TDi Disco will fit a 300Tdi Defender, (it's not the transfer box as well, but I know the ratio's in those differ)

I'm fairly sure the the gear change will swop over, but is there a difference in the input shaft or anything else ?

Cheers for any help

Dave

I'm pretty sure you just swap the remote shifter over

no, you cant swap the selector housings over, a short stick is different to a long stick, all the gubbings inside the housing are different, friend of mine tripped up as he thought it would work brought the gearbox and it cant be done, so he's stuck with a r380 now

I have the same problem, a Disco R380 on my Defender project.  It can be done but there are quite a few changes required in the gearbox itself.  I have opted to have the remote further back (encroaching on the middle seat area) and will use a spare seat box to make the adjustments.  If I get it finnished soon I will post some pics.

I wish this project would just hurry up and finish!

But I don't think it will if I keep making simple mistakes
