Anyone here a Formula 1 fan?  I know, I know, mud and Formula 1 don't automatically go together.  But gear heads are gear heads.

Happy Jensen Button made it to the podium in Malaysia.  Glad that Michael Schumacher was no were in sight.

Used to be a huge Coulthard fan.  I would like to see American Scott Speed do well.

Your thoughts?

Yeah, I also like WRC better.  I attended the Snowman rally in Inverness in January 1995.

Unfortunately this year, the speed channel seems to have quit carrying the WRC and I can't watch it.  Still get F1 though.

I need to put in my profile, but my other car is a 2002 Silver Subaru Legacy GT Wagon.  That is because of WRC influence on me.

Jake, joined your thread, and changed this one to more of a WRC theme.

Mark.Yellow.Series.3, sounds like fun, but sounds scarey as well.

370 is a sick amount of HP.  That is more than real WRC cars.  There is only 300 in the Subaru STI.

I like rally racing, because they are about the closest thing you can have to what is on the road.  Obviously F1 cars you can't take on the road, and Stock Cars aren't real road cars.  But WRC cars get license plates and run on the streets.

Formula 1 is just so boring, all that practicing & timing fuel stops so your driver gets advantage <yawn>

WRC is sadly going the same way, with the involvement of big-bucks TV,still it has proper action & the constantly changing surfaces certainly show which discipline has the better drivers

Australian Touring Cars are a blast though :D

I definity like to watch F1, my wife is trhe big fan, at her request I took her to Silverstone last year - Sheer hell!. Shame it won't happen this year but she will be 8 months by then.

I know a lot of people who knock F1 but ALL the innovations in raod cars (or 4x4's) heve come from F1 at some point: Radial tyres, disk brakes, dual brake systems, streamlininig, ABS, traction control, Fuel injection, engine management, advanced suspention, crumple zones... You could go on forever.

Basically money talks and F1 has the money.

For the record I have always been a McLaren fan and Wifey likes Kimi who it has to be said is the best 'racer' on the grid.

What is going on with the WRC race this weekend?  Anyone know?

I am a big fan of the Subaru team.  I also cheer for Skoda, because I had one once (it is a Skoda thing).  I'll cheer for anyone but all those dominant French cars.

And since you are in Europe, you get those racing Semi trucks.  We really don't have anything like that.

Do you ever just a chance to get out to the drags?  How about rally-cross racing?

Closest racing around here is a dirt oval at the local fair grounds, guys racing V8 powered Camaros.

What races have you guys been to?

WRC every time. There is no action in F1 any more. It is mainly who eve leads from the start line wins unless something major happens.

WRC on the other hand I think takes more skill and bravery. It is a pitty that channel 4 stopped doing the coverage for it as since it went to five I havent seen any of the coverage as they do an hour on a sunday in the afternoon. Thats no good as I am under the disco then!!! Channel 4 did a report every day and a build up thing one evening the week before.

I have done a bit of rallying and it was great fun. ok it was only a day but even so still great fun and if I had the money I would do it more often.

There is presumably a limit on the power output, or it'll be back to he (good old days) of Group B :D

Group B... 6R4s vs. RS200s,  now that was what I called Rallying.

I watched a 6R4 in action at Rallycross once, now you can be told their fast but until you see one catapult it's self from the start and bomb down the straight like it's on fire you don't get an ideas of just how fast.

Gotta be WRC for me, of course Dakar is good too!
It was a tougher choice though after Audi won in FL with a diesel F1!

Dakar is Awesome!

That was awesome the Audi diesel power won Sebring.

I loved the group B rally cars.  The 80s Audi rally team with nearly 700hp.  I have a couple of Group B Rally videos that I have pull out and see from time to time.  My favorite is called "Too Fast To Race".
