How the hell do you connect it to the tele???..I have a cable from the back to tele..does this go strait into the back of the tele or does the arial plug into it or what :roll:

I have a lenth of cable it came with male and female i assue one end goes into the Atari and the other goes in the back of tele?

funny as the cable that came with it plugs into a v tpye plastic unit which has two outlets does the Arial go in one side of this?

Yeah - the V-Type thingy is so you can plug your TV arial back in.

Hi Timberdog

I had one of these back in about 1979 / 1980. I guess it is the same one it was called the Atari 2600 if memory serves me.

Hours of fun and mine still works today. Loads of games but need two new joysticks now. I might try ebay...

Anyway in answer to your question

plug one end of the lead into the back of the Atari.
Plug the single end of the "v" connector into the ariel socket on the back of the tv
The ariel plugs into one of the two sockets on the "v" connector
The other end of the lead from the Atari plugs into the other socket on the "v" connector.

Then turn on the Atari and tune a spare tv channel until you see the atari symbol.

Then sit back play and enjoy.

PS the V connector is just an ariel splitter to enable you to keep it plugged in without having to keep switching cables.

If you still can't get it figured, there is always radio shack.  If you can describe what the connectors are, they can get you whatever adapter you might need.

Had to type all the code in from magazines before you could play them  ](*,)  .

The cassettes took hours to Load a game :(

You can get good emulators and replay games of the past for Ataris, segas, nintendo, amigas, psx all on your PC.

for a meer spectrum i had a sinclar QL with microdrives oh joy  :roll:


oh i also had an Orick 1 which i dispised with a passion

later progressed on to the amiga2000 with a rom swapper
to think it was an a600 if i remember correctly

never made it to the a1200

jumped stright to a IBM ps2

all in all i dread to think what it all cost
but it was  mm mostly worth it..

My first PC was a NCR with a massive Winchester Drive of 10Mb sounded like a 747 on takeoff when powered up, loved it.

Then built my own 486 DX/4 100 and then the normal upgrades to what I built today.

Theres something about the Retro Console's isn't there...

I have my PS2, and it's great, but somethings driven me to re-install my SNES into the TV, and it's got more use latley than my Playstation!

EDIT: That's Creepy, just as I typed, Listening to Radio 6 and there talking about Retro PCs!

I was able to get some emulators of the old video games that we used to play in the 80s, the old roms off the original motherboards.  Exactly the same games that we used to put our quarters into.  

Man, you feel stupid saying, "I used to put my hard earned lawn mowing money into a machine to play this."  

Also have emulators for a bunch of SNES Nintendo games.  Playing these all on my new Mac Mini.
