At the risk of being controversial ......
I haven't read the RA forum guidelines, but assuming some are laid out somewhere I can see the reasons for locking the thread. They have not removed it, so people can still see what it was about.
The quote "This is a public forum, and attracts viewpoints, not accurate information on the policy of the RA or anyone else" is the relevant line. The original questions were asking about RA policy/opinions. If that is not what the forum is there for, then it was perfectly within their remit to lock it.
So, if someone else were to start a thread would suggest it should be worded to fall within their guidelines.
Something like:
I was wondering what other members feel about the RA policy on..... etc?
However, I suspect in joining the RA you agree to abide by their terms and policies. So, the answer should, in theory, be a foregone conclusion.

Can I offer a word of caution here ...
if the RA signed onto mud-club and started spamming it to death with messages questioning the actions of the more demented members of the off road community, of which I would like to point out there are many, then we would probably not take especially kindly to it.
Please bare in mind that some of their membership quite probably don't give a twiddle about 4x4s, and are either unaware of the pressure the association is placing towards things like the NERC bill, or are under the impression that what is being objected to is "irresponsible off roading" which, is strictly speaking accurate and in line with what Mud-Club preaches, I'd like to see an end ot "irresponsible off roading" too, I'd also like to extend that to "irresponsible on roading" ..
Either way, let's not convince those with no opinion that we are a bunch of argumentative single minded so and sos with no ability to see the oter side of the argument ...

the posting was never intended as a spam attack (I hope you would think better of me than that)
It was just an attempt to see what sort of answers they may come up.
Granted they are well with in there rights to lock the thread although I do feel that it would have been a chance for not only the ramblers themselves to voice there opinions but for the RA as a whole to post there stance openly.
I except that as you say datalas that we would be "rather upset" if the ramblers or any other anti group started to spam post MC of which we are all justly proud but again theres spam and theres being able to aire views publicly and openly .
I know this may seem like a bit of a rant back but its REALLY not intended to be as just feel I should put my stance on record from the original posts on MC and the RA.
I've amended my post above on my own free will with no promts from any mods on MC - again I think the message could be misinterpreted but my post as it says is in no way an open or disguised prompt to spam any forum

As for the RA forum being an open public one i very much digress. Anything not to thier liking and it gets pulled. Try posting in support of keeping Vixen tor closed. There would be outrage
The RA forum has been closed down once before when an internet based forum had a mass joining and spammed it to death. so was the rumor i had heard being i am a Forum moderator on another forum.

Don't worry, I wasn't attempting to belittle your (or anyone elses') character, just making sure everyone was aware that things of this ilk are potentially dangerous.
