Disco indicators ?
« on: March 31, 2006, 17:11:37 »
Hi,

The problem:

Disco 1 indicator light arrows on dashboard not working, trailer light flashes on its own. Checked all the obvious things, and have replaced the flasher relay with a genuine part - the correct one for the vehicle in question.

All lights work with new flasher relay however, using any of the switches/brakes, switching the ignition on results in a "click" from the relay and the indicator arrows light up "click" and go out again.

Disco is fitted with a tow bar and I have had the new part exchanged incase it was faulty and have tested the new flasher relay on an equivalent Disco with the same result   . I have also tried the defective flasher unit on the other Disco and again, only the trailer light flashes.

Any ideas ?

I'm thinking there's a short somewhere ?

The problem with the idicators started six months ago and has continually got worse until the arrows stopped working altogether and the trailer light took over !

Cheers,

Jim

Disconnect the 12N socket from behind the rear drivers side light cluster.  My guess is that the wires in the back of the socket for towing are in a right mess. That external socket should plug into the wiring loom behind that light cluster.

'Should' being the operative word ...

The abortion that I found on my D2 was incredible ... but is now consigned to the bin!
