New Defender
« on: April 02, 2006, 16:23:14 »
The brother in-law has been looking for a new Defender for the last couple of months, then the other day he spotted one on the Auto Trader website.Anyway previously I had offered to take him if he needed to go anywhere.

Anyway after leaving at 4am yesterday morning and getting back at midnight, and after a 940 mile round trip to Aberdeen   , he is the proud owner. :D

So now me thinks he owe's me big time!!

He wasn't looking for a hardtop, though I think he is planning to fit windows, seats etc.

Shame about your mate's we could have called in.

Thats a short jorney compared to what my Dad did TWICE with his SWB diesel series 3.

He towed a caravan to the south of France and back 2 years running. 1000 miles each way!

3rd year he bought a Rover 620 which is now mine. His hearing wasnever the same nor mine come to that!

An admirable feat  :!:  especially in a SWB series 3.

Though this was in the space of 20 hours

It was no mean feet!

I had to sleep in the passenger footwell using the seat base as my pillow and my brother was short enough to sleep in the back on the floor.

My dad liked to do the whole journey within 48 hours max.

55mph in red hot sunshine in a loud diesel landy is an experience i will never forget and we couldnt find the camp site either so had to keep on turning around. that was another 1-2 hours of faffing around!
