rear halfshaft

i have undone the 5 bollts holding the halfshaft in
the axle
it will only move out about 50mm
then stops
do i need a slide hammer on it or am i not doing something
correctly

Should come out ok , any reason for taking it out ?

is it front or rear ?

oil seal is leaking and probably wheel bearing gone
but cant pull halfshaft out to get to wheel bearing and seal

Make sure the vehicle brakes are off, after ensuring it wont roll anywhere, you dont have the diff lock in do you?

Also try pushing the end of the shaft down, it may be holding somewhere

Its probably just holding onto the diff, push it back and yank it a bit harder

tried pulling it with transit van and still would come out
so good old angle grinder to the rescue
cut the end off
so to undo the stub axle
pull it all out in one
to find wheel bearing inner gone
damaging the stub axle which was stopping the halfshaft
coming out
paddocks to the rescue
new parts coming tomorow
new stub axle
new wheelbearing
new halfshaft
new seal etc
 :cry:
