Battery Swap

It's a daft question perhaps, but;

What precautions would I have to take with regard to the under-seat electronics (& factory fit) alarm when I need to change the battery in my 110
Do I need to use a set of leads & keep a constant voltage to the vehicle during the exchange?

Amazingly for this day & age, I've not been in the position of having to change the battery on any car that's ECU'd before :oops:

Just changed one on a 96 disco..........and didnt have any probs........hope this helps a bit.

I had the one on my 04 TD5 Defender disconnected while I played with the winch setup before now. No Ill effects.

Did the battery on my 110 Td5 the other week. You need to loosen the battery connections, then turn the ignition on, then off and then remove the earth connection within 10 secs - think this stops the factory alarm from seeing the power cut as an attempted break in.

Reconnection is straight forward - just connect the earth and live as normal, no need to on/off the ignition.

The hardest bit is actually getting the old battery out of the battery box !

I had been planning (when the time comes) to use a pair of light gauge cables & crocodile clips on the batteryu leads in order to maintain a constant violtage
