parking rant

Went down to north yorkshire today with SWMBO and the kids as I owed them a day out as have been busy last couple of weekends either with Marvin off the road or being offroaded.
Went to Richmond first of all and decided to stop for a cuppa and a look around.
Tried to get parked in the market square and a car coming the other way stole my 1st space

Not happy but couldnt vent my spleen with young kids in the car so went to find another space - another car was pulling out so indicated to pull in and same thing again another bl@@dy idiot does exactly the same (considering I was stopped and indicating to turn right into the space and had just waived the car out)
went to look for a 3rd space and managed to get parked no problems. Shame really if it had happened a 3rd time I would of tested out my tow strop on a cars standard tow point.
Get out of the car to look for a pay and display meter and see the sign saying its "badged parking only" Not disabled badged parking I add but bl@@dy resident style disc thingso had to leave this space in the centre of town and park down by the river and pay £2 AN HOUR :!:  :!:  :!:
Needless to say pulled into the carpark let the kids out to take some pictures by the waterfall and use the loo (all the time keeping an eye open for any triffic wardens) left without buying a ticket and went on to Masham.
What a differance loads of parking space in the market square and only an "honesty box" with sudgested payment of 50p.
I wonder how long before the council in Richmond start to complain about lack of visitors  :?:

I know where I would rather go.
(plus Masham has the added advantage of blacksheep brewery   )

ive a similar rant

why does everyone have a 10min parking limit before paying stupid prices at manchester airport terminal 1 but there is nothing in t2 or t3

consider it if its pouring down and the people you want to pick up are inside the terminal, they cannot see you if you are parked as its too far away, so you need ot park up, run like christie inside then wheel the trolley out like a madman and get everyone inside (not easy if most are kids) then cane it out before your 10mins are up

stupid idea completely

told the missus next time to take the travelator to t2 instead ;)

We had a similar thing happen to us when we were in Pickering.  Andy's dad was still with us at the time, this was just before his knees gave up, so he was unsteady on his pins.  We'd managed to find a parking space in the middle of town, and we wanted to go on the North York Moors railway.  So we went to tourist information, and yes, we still had to pay, and yes, they had a wheelchair he could use, but they wanted it back in 2 hours!!  What use was that.  So Andy and his Dad both had a rant ('twas a sight to see/hear) and very nearly got in the car and came home.  However, I suggested that we go to Grosmont (the other end of the line) and try our luck there.
After about 45 mins and lots of brake fade later, we got parked RIGHT next to the station.  The guy taking money for parking wouldn't hear of it, as we had a bit of a rant at him, cos of how cr@p pickering was.
Moral of the story - if there's somewhere thats rubbish, touristy and ya can't get parked anywhere, try a few villages later, much better.
Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men.
