What a couple of weeks!!
« on: April 19, 2006, 16:58:34 »
Well.
One of the UJ's went on my front prop. Not a problem, i've done a couple of those now.
This one was a nightmare!
I broke the first £5 UJ from Paddocks because it would'nt fit.
So Kate went to Land Rover to get a UJ.
£30 later    and i have a *real* part.
That was'nt going into place either.
So off to Towcester with out a front prop.
Whilst doing the Towcester run my rear diff went pop
You have probably read about that Here.
So i was took to work for a week in Kate's Series 3, when i decieded to work, the condenser and points are in a bit of a mess.
Horrible bouncy sereies ride hurts my back!
On the Wednesday the passenger door would shut, so i gave it a slam and the rear or the 2 windows smashed all over my lap!
This is the very same day i decieded to give up smoking (after 18 years, 30 a day)
Then Kate phones me up to say her car has broken down. So, back onto the phone to the AA and she's recovered home.
Kate changed the rotor arm and condenser so her car is now working again.
Now for some spending.
Ordered a new door top from Paddocks (£47 glazed) and a rear diff from Parts Gateway (£75) and awaited the postman.
Kate went and collected the diff from the couriers on Sat so i set about changing it.
What a mess!!
I think just a little water had got into it.
All the pictures of the diff are Here
I lost easter sunday to easter family stuff's.
Bank holiday monday i awoke and deceided we were gonna change Kate's springs (they have been sat in our hall for about 5 weeks now  )
Loads of WD40 later and most of the bolts are undone.
2 were stuck into the bushes, so out with the angle grinder.
7 hours later Kate's car is on new springs and shocks (Britpart springs, Armstrong shocks) and it looks and rides great!
Pictures Here (click next to see more)
And tonight (the 7th day without a cigerette) we're of the see the Australian Pink Floyd at the Royal Albert Hall, London.
What a couple of weeks!!

Propshaft UJs are rapidly becoming my most hated LR job, had to do one on Heather yesterday and it was also a nightmare. Had to take the prop off Mathilda as well, thinking that it was mud in the handbrake that was making it so difficult to push her anywhere, she still doesn't run but that will hopefully be sorted tomorrow. Turned out it was a siezed hanbrake cable, so now have a new one that will be going on tomorrow along with the Discovery handbrake lever.

Ive got it down to a fine art now. Onto a ramp at work 1:00, prop out by 1:10, into engine room, remove UJ, fit new, back out to ramp by 1:35, prop in by 1:45, still got 15 minutes to eat me sandwiches....

Bloody nuisance
Go on....cut me in half........it says SUZUKI all the way thru the middle!!

severe steering vibration back to garage wheel bearings tightened up and offside track rod end and power steering pump adjusted. I'm still waitring for my discount card from my Garage.

14 days time Joes back in the garage to have the gearbox fixed Coolant loss sorted and a few other bits.

Special Thanks to Joe Edwards for fitting me i turn up and he does it.

then get a phone call from the bank to say we'll get you aloan to tidy up your account great i say rush down there not expecting anything got the loan and found out i was short by 2K back to the back this morning and tell them take it back i want to go back how i was.

I might be in debt i can live with that but at the moment i'm worse off

The Aussie Pink Floyd are awesome.  Just close your eyes and you wouldn't even know its not the original lineup.  Having said that, the show is well worth watching, so don't close your eyes!
