In the series 3 I was going to fit a second battery just for running the extras.  I never got around to it.  i have all the cable and a relay etc still.  I was thinking of putting a second battery in the disco but it has twin trailer sockets aready wired up.  So the question is, where is the relay likely to be and how big (amps not physicaly...) is it likely to be.  Can I take a wire straight off the caravan accesory sockets feed and run it to the battery?

Has anyone fitted a second battery in their disco?  If so, where did you put it?

i have a second battery on my 200tdi and it fits behind the headlight on the passenger side (same place as origional on drivers side)

As or using the split charges for the caravan , i wouldn't. The relay for the caravan will not be good enough(amps) if you are running alot of things off your other battery. Also if you have a winch and use that off the second battery whilst it is being charged it will almost certainly melt the wiring and the relay.
If i were you as you already have the correct parts for the job, for the sake of a bit of time i would fit those.

Just my opinion

If you can't afford a dedicated split charge relay then get a hoofing big realy (70 amp) and make the blue wire from the 12S socket switch it.

Personally I just wire them up in parallel.
